Michelle L. McClellan
Hi, I’m Michelle. I founded MLM Communications because I love helping job seekers and organizations enhance their image and achieve their goals. Most of what I do involves harnessing the power of clear, compelling, authentic communication to help clients win something—a better job, more donations or clicks, a higher profile. (And sometimes you just need to get that brochure to the printer by this Tuesday at noon.)
I’ve played a leading role with philanthropies including the Regence Foundation (now Cambia Health Foundation) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to launch and brand signature initiatives across multiple markets. My writing has appeared in publications including High Country News and EarthWatch Oregon, and my essay, “Shooting and Stealing,” was a finalist in the University of Oregon’s Northwest Perspectives essay contest in 2001. I’ve taught writing at the university level and facilitated writing workshops for women escaping domestic violence and adults recovering from addiction as a volunteer for Write Around Portland.
I hold a BA from Whitman College and an MBA in Nonprofit Management from the University of Portland; my research into how nonprofits are influencing corporate philanthropy was presented at the 2013 International Joint Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Governance in Tokyo, Japan.
