Hi, I’m Michelle. I founded MLM Communications because I love helping job seekers and organizations enhance their image and achieve their goals. Most of what I do involves harnessing the power of clear, compelling, authentic communication to help clients win something—a better job, more donations or clicks, a higher profile.

Before launching MLM Communications, I was an associate consultant and communications specialist at Solid Ground Consulting. Prior to that, I spent over ten years in private and corporate philanthropy in roles spanning program development and strategic communications. I played a leading role with both the Regence Foundation (now Cambia Health Foundation) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to launch and brand signature initiatives across multiple markets. Early in my career, I worked for several conservation nonprofits and completed a competitive internship with High Country News in Paonia, Colorado, where I researched and wrote stories about the American West. I’ve taught English Composition at the university level and facilitated writing workshops for women escaping domestic violence and adults in recovery as a volunteer and board member for Write Around Portland.

I am a certified professional résumé writer and hold a BA from Whitman College and an MBA in Nonprofit Management from the University of Portland. My master’s research into how nonprofits are influencing corporate philanthropy was presented at the 2013 International Joint Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Governance in Tokyo, Japan.
